Royal College of Music in Stockholm is hiring a Piano Tuner
The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, KMH, is Sweden's only independent university in the field of music. We educate students at the highest international level in various music genres, conducting, composition, music and media production, as well as in various teacher training programs focused on music. KMH also conducts research and doctoral education in music and music pedagogy and participates in extensive artistic and pedagogical research and development projects in Sweden and internationally.
KMH hereby announces a position as a piano tuner. The position is permanent with a scope of 25%. KMH applies a six-month probationary period.
Service Department
The Service Department is part of the university administration and consists of three main operational areas such as cleaning, management at Edsberg Castle, and instrument technology.
Job Responsibilities
KMH has extensive concert activities in three concert venues. KMH's programs lead, among other things, to becoming professional musicians, and therefore there are high demands on the instrument collection, such as grand pianos and pianos.
The work is partly scheduled on weekends and irregular working hours may occur, some of which are scheduled. Certain periods during the academic year are more intensive depending on KMH's activities. It may also involve resolving urgent situations at short notice, for example, if a string breaks before a graduation concert.
KMH's premises are climate-controlled, which means that humidity is stable throughout the year. This ensures that the tuning holds better on the instruments. The tasks include tuning, mechanical adjustment, and intonation. Participation in internal meetings and presentations of work for different student groups may occur.
You should have an interest in KMH's activities and that through your work at KMH you want to continue the development and communication of music as a field of knowledge and artistic expression in accordance with KMH's strategy.
Qualifications
- Two-year piano technician education or equivalent
- Passed SPTF's test.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Basic computer skills
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who is analytical, meticulous, responsible, and has the ability to prioritize when the workload is high. You enjoy working in a service-oriented manner and function well both in teams and independently. Since the work involves close contact with teachers, researchers, students, and other functions within the administration, it is important that you are attentive and have good communication skills.
In this recruitment, KMH will primarily consider the candidate who, after a qualitative overall assessment of skills, personal qualities, and suitability, is deemed to have the best conditions to contribute to a positive development of the operations.
For candidates who are called for a second interview, a technical test of about two hours will be conducted.
